The Union Académique Internationale (International Union of Academies) is an international alliance of national academies in the fields of the humanities and the social sciences.

Founded in Paris in 1919 with a general secretariat based in Brussels, the UAI currently has a membership of more than a hundred academies and learned societies from 63 countries. Its basic aims are to initiate, promote, foster and finance long-term international research projects in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

UAI support has led to the publication of more than 3,000 books, many in series providing research scholars with fundamental reference tools such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, and critical text editions.

Corpus Inscriptionum Iranicarum

The volumes of the Corpus Inscriptionum Iranicarum — a major programme of the UAI — are published by The School of Oriental and African Studies, London, and attempt to present the known documents and inscriptions from multiple periods discovered in Iran and Central Asia. Now in four major parts, addressing Ancient Iran; the Seleucid and Parthian periods of Eastern Iran and Central Asia; Pahlavi inscriptions and Persian inscriptions to the early Safavid period, the Corpus currently extends to 27 volumes.
